Noah’s* Tag Heuer Classic watch was stolen while on a long overseas holiday in Spain, on day 57 of his 100-day trip. Noah’s credit card entitled him to automatic travel insurance, subject to terms and conditions of the policy.
The policy specified that, to be eligible for cover, the total period of overseas travel must not exceed 90 days. Noah argued that day 57 was within 90 days, but the total period of his travel was 100 days.
Because his travel was too long, he didn’t meet the activation requirements of the policy and wasn’t able to claim for the loss of his watch.
Noah was provided with details of the policy when he received his credit card. He could have requested a copy of the policy, or checked the policy online prior to his travel.
Complaint not upheld.
